Auto Troubleshooter

    • Tests engine RPM and dwell
    • Measures AC/DC voltage, DC current and resistance
    • Tests continuity, wiring and diodes

Ignition Module and Sensor Testor

  • Actron CP9087 Ignition Module and Sensor Testor
    • Test ignition modules (ECM) and igniters
    • Tests sensors including O2, MAP, MAF, knock and crankshaft sensors (ie: Distributor pickup sensor)
    • Tests continuity, wiring and diodes
    Note:
    This tool is sort of the missing link many are looking for.
    Allows you to check the ECM (Section 3 using the Magnetic Reluctance Pick-up hookup on page 3-9 of the tester manual).
    Allows you to check the Distributor Pick-up sensor (Section 2, page 2-46 of the tester manual, Magnetic Reluctance version)
    Unfortunatly this has been discontinued and may be diffficult to locate.

Timing Light

Timing lights come in Good, Better and Best Categories.

  • Good - Actron CP7527
    When using this type of timing light (no dial back capability) to perform the tuning procedures listed here, you will need to add a 0-60 degree timing tape attached to the harmonic balancer.
  • Better - Actron CP7528 Timing changes are read off the rear dial.
  • Best - Actron CP7529 Timing changes and engine RPM values are read off rear digital display.

Hand Operated Vacuum Pump

  • Good - Actron CP7830
    Used to set up vacuum advance curve, check EGR valve, etc.
  • Better - Actron CP7835
    Used to set up vacuum advance curve, check EGR valve, bleed brakes, etc.

Feeler Gauge - Steel and Non-Magnetic (Brass) Blades

  • Alltrade 648518 Combo Tune-Up Gauge
    • For measuring a variety of clearances. Gauge set contains flat and wire loop blades, non-magnetic brass blades and spark plug gap adjusting tool.
    • Steel blades include: 0.010, 0.012, 0.015, 0.016, 0.017, 0.018, 0.019, 0.020, 0.022, 0.024, 0.025, 0.026.
    • Brass blades include: 0.006, 0.008, 0.010, 0.012, 0.014, 0.016. - (Used for setting Reluctor Gap)
    • Wire loop blades include: 0.025, 0.030, 0.034, 0.035, 0.040, 0.045.
    • Flat blades have metric and standard measurements on blades. Meets Fed Spec. GGG-G-17c

Lock Ring Pliers
